Tesla CEO Elon Musk made a major announcement on X, revealing Tesla's imminent launch of a universal, pure AI Full Self-Driving (FSD) solution. He emphasized that this is the first time full self-driving will soon have a universal, pure AI solution. The technology will rely entirely on cameras, Tesla's in-house AI chips, and proprietary AI software, eliminating the need for lidar and other sensors. This breakthrough marks a significant advancement in Tesla's autonomous driving capabilities. Musk's statement continues Tesla's consistent pure vision approach.

Li Liyun, head of intelligent driving at Xpeng Motors, recently disclosed the company's autonomous driving development timeline for the first time, announcing plans to offer pseudo-autonomous driving capabilities on the Max series models by 2025, making Xpeng the first domestic car manufacturer to set a clear timeline for the rollout of autonomous driving. Li stated that Xpeng is currently on the 'eve of unmanned driving'. Based on a firm belief in the Scaling Law of autonomous driving, Xpeng has chosen a pure vision technology route for intelligent driving. He believes that with the accumulation of massive amounts of data and continuous improvement in cloud and vehicle computing power, the transition will be feasible.

Tao Lin, Vice President of Tesla, issued a statement today reiterating the company's commitment to the development path of autonomous driving technology. Lin mentioned that several years ago, company founder Elon Musk determined that only through pure vision technology can we achieve safer and smarter fully autonomous driving. She explained that because existing road and traffic rules are designed based on human vision, the combination of cameras, visual neural networks, and autonomous driving hardware can best mimic human observation, perception, and decision-making habits, potentially reaching or even surpassing human driving capabilities.
